Rev360 Crash: LCCI demands CIT deadline extension, penalty waiver
Lagos Chamber of Commerce Calls for Extension of Tax Filing Deadline

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has requested that the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) extend the June 30, 2026 deadline for filing Company Income Tax (CIT) returns by one month. This appeal comes in response to widespread technical issues with the new Rev360 tax platform, which hindered many companies from meeting the statutory deadline.
In a statement issued on Monday, Dr. Chinyere Almona, the Director General of LCCI, highlighted that many businesses, while waiting until the last day to file their returns, found themselves unable to do so due to extensive disruptions on the portal.
Launched just two months prior, the Rev360 platform experienced significant technical difficulties on June 30, including login failures, validation errors, and unsuccessful submissions. These problems occurred as companies rushed to comply with the deadline.
“The failure was that of the platform, not the taxpayers,” Almona said. She emphasized that deploying a new digital tax system shortly before a major compliance deadline often brings considerable operational challenges, especially under heavy user traffic.
Almona noted that the anticipated increase in last-minute filings revealed the platform’s insufficient capacity, resulting in numerous businesses being locked out during a critical period.
To restore confidence in the tax administration process, she called on the NRS to take three immediate actions: extend the CIT filing deadline by one month, waive all penalties for companies that attempted to file by June 30 but were affected by the system outage, and enhance the rev360 platform’s capacity and stability ahead of the next filing cycle.
Almona stressed that a timely announcement regarding the deadline extension and penalty waiver would alleviate growing concerns within the business community and help avert disputes stemming from circumstances beyond taxpayers’ control.
