Nigerian Musician Rolex Dee Faces Family Tragedy Following Father’s Death

Nigerian musician Afunso Ridwan Abiola, known professionally as Rolex Dee, is mourning the loss of his father, who passed away recently. The elder Abiola’s death occurred shortly after reports surfaced that his son was in police custody and experiencing serious health issues, including vomiting blood.

Rolex Dee’s mother shared the heartbreaking news in a video that circulated on social media on Sunday, during the funeral of her husband. In the emotional recording, she expressed disbelief at her husband’s passing and recounted their final moments together. “The last time we saw each other was when we went together to Taye Currency’s house to plead for our son’s release,” she said, referring to a prior incident where they sought assistance from fellow musician Taye Currency.

Amid her grief, she highlighted her son’s current predicament, stating, “My son is not allowed to pay his father his last respects.” She criticized the police for not providing necessary medical care to Rolex Dee, despite his deteriorating condition.

Rolex Dee, a supporter of Taye Currency during a previous dispute with singer Pasuma, faced legal issues after allegedly disclosing sensitive information about Currency, which reportedly led to his arrest.

The situation continues to unfold as calls for assistance in securing Rolex Dee’s release grow among his supporters.
