Roos laud ‘professional’ star after devastating blow

North Melbourne has thrown its support behind “professional” defender Griffin Logue, after confirming he’d suffered a devastating ACL tear in his left knee.

Logue went down halfway through the first quarter of Sunday’s 62-point loss to Geelong and helped himself off the ground, with scans later revealing the full extent of the damage.

The season-ending injury prompted North Melbourne’s general manager of football, Todd Viney, to applaud Logue’s behaviour during the match.

“The way he went about it is a testament to the professional he is,” Viney said.

“Despite knowing his injury was serious, Griff continued to support his teammates throughout the game yesterday.

“We understood Griff had suffered a significant knee injury and unfortunately, scans today confirmed an ACL rupture to his left knee.”

The club further cemented their support for the defender, saying there is already help in place as he begins his rehabilitation journey.

“Everyone at the club will be there to support him as he begins the first steps of his rehab,” Viney said.

The 25-year-old, who arrived at Arden Street from Fremantle through the 2022 trade period on a lucrative deal, has been a strong contributor to the Kangaroos’ backline, playing 15 of a possible 16 games in 2023.
