Russian star’s beautiful response to Ukraine support

Russian star Andrey Rublev is pleased the All-England Club is funding the accommodation of Ukrainian players.

“I think it’s good, and it should be like this,” Rublev said.

“I can only say thanks to Wimbledon that they are taking care of those things, and trying to support them.”

Rublev and his Russian compatriots are back at SW19 this year after being banned from last year’s tournament. They are competing under a neutral flag.

”I feel really happy to be back because in general I didn’t play much Wimbledon or I was injured or [it] was pandemic or then they ban us,” Rublev told reporters on Monday.

“So, of course, really special and really happy to be back in London to play at one of the best tournaments and to get a win today was a nice moment.”
