Sachet Alcohol Sellers Protest, Urge FG To Lift Ban –

Sachet Alcohol Sellers in Ibadan Protest Ban on Sales
IBADAN, Oyo State — Sachet alcohol sellers gathered for a peaceful protest in the Beere area of Ibadan on Wednesday, urging the Federal Government to lift its ban on the sale of sachet alcohol and alcoholic products packaged below 20cl.
The protesters expressed concerns about the economic impact of the ban on their livelihoods. Many of the traders stated that the sale of sachet alcohol had been their primary source of income for years, allowing them to support their families and meet financial obligations.
“This ban has left many struggling to survive,” one trader said, highlighting the hardships caused by the policy. They called on the government and regulatory authorities to reconsider the ban, citing its detrimental effects on small-scale businesses.
The protesters also emphasized the need for dialogue between the government and stakeholders to address public health concerns while safeguarding the livelihoods of those affected by the ban. They urged a collaborative approach to find solutions that benefit both public health and local economies.
