Veteran Nigerian Actors Address Concerns Surrounding Hanks Anuku’s Well-Being
Nigerian actors Segun Arinze and Jerry Amilo have commented on the growing concerns regarding the mental health of their colleague, Hanks Anuku, following the emergence of a video that has sparked widespread attention.
The video, which appeared online on June 27, 2026, shows Anuku lying on the road in Wuse 2, Abuja, while seemingly talking to himself and holding a disposable cup. The footage raised alarms among social media users, some of whom speculated about the actor’s health and alleged that he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
In response to the controversy, both Arinze and Amilo took to social media to clarify the situation. Under an Instagram post from a popular blog, Arinze emphasized that the video was not recent, stating, “This is a very old video oo.”
Amilo urged the public to refrain from spreading negativity, adding, “PLEASE THIS IS AN OLD VIDEO. STOP SPREADING EVIL NEWS AND WISHES.”
Earlier, Anuku attributed his drinking habits to a struggle with depression during an interview in November 2023, where he indicated that he does not engage in the use of hard drugs.
