Senate Confirms Mahmoud Isa Yugudu as Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria
Abuja—The Senate confirmed Mahmoud Isa Yugudu as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Wednesday during a plenary session at the National Assembly complex.
The confirmation followed the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions’ presentation of its report. Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, chairman of the committee, stated that Yugudu demonstrated competence and relevant experience during the screening process.
“We carefully screened the nominee and found him qualified for the position,” Abiru said. “He possesses the required experience and knowledge to function effectively as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.”
Following the committee’s recommendation, the Senate approved Yugudu’s nomination through a voice vote.
President Bola Tinubu had submitted the nomination to the Senate for consideration ahead of the vote.
