Senator Whitehouse Critiques U.S. Foreign Policy, Calls for Accountability
U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse expressed concerns regarding the nation’s standing in global affairs, suggesting that the United States is becoming one of the “worst-behaved countries” in the world.
In a recent interview with Steve Clemons, Whitehouse, a Democrat from Rhode Island, criticized what he described as a “wholesale violation” of President Donald Trump’s campaign promise to avoid unnecessary military conflicts, particularly in relation to U.S. involvement in the Israel-Iran dispute.
Whitehouse characterized the conduct of the conflict as “managed just spectacularly incompetently and dishonestly.” He contended that the perception of the U.S. among other nations is increasingly negative, with foreign leaders likening it to countries notorious for unethical practices, including corruption and favoritism.
The senator also remarked on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approach to U.S. relations, asserting that Netanyahu “hasn’t been a good friend” to the United States.
