Seven Dead, Five Injured in Bauchi Road Accident
Bauchi, Nigeria – A tragic road accident on the Bauchi-Maiduguri Highway has claimed the lives of seven individuals and left five others injured. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that the crash occurred around 12:05 p.m. on Saturday at Kajutu village, Bauchi State.
The collision involved a commercial Galaxy Sharon bus, registered as KRF 198XA, and an unregistered MAN diesel tipper truck. The FRSC was notified of the accident just two minutes later, and rescue teams arrived at the scene by 12:22 p.m.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the crash was caused by a violation of traffic signals and dangerous driving, particularly on a rough section of the roadway. In total, 12 people were involved: 10 adult males, one adult female, and one male child. Among them, seven adult males were pronounced dead, while the surviving five—three adult males, one adult female, and one male child—sustained various injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Garba Babaji, Alkali Galadima, Aliyu Samanja, Abba Abbo, Amadu Guruza, Rabiu Baura, and Ibrahim Gucho Officer, all of whom were residents of Misau Local Government Area in Bauchi State.
Victims were evacuated to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi for treatment, where the fatalities were confirmed.
Items retrieved from the crash site included six Android phones, five keypad phones, ₦34,250 in cash, three caps, a traveling bag, and a wallet.
Former Senator Isah Hamma Misau extended condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Misau, calling the incident heartbreaking. He urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
