‘She Shouldn’t Have Been Half-naked’

Delta State Official Critiques Chioma Adeleke’s Grammy Outfit
Ossai Success, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has criticized Chioma Adeleke, wife of Nigerian singer Davido, for her choice of attire at the 68th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
Attending the ceremony in support of Davido, who was nominated for ‘Best African Music Performance,’ Chioma wore a sheer dress that stirred controversy on social media. This marked her first appearance at the prestigious event alongside Davido and his elder sister, Sharon Adeleke.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Success expressed his disappointment, stating that Chioma’s outfit did not align with the cultural values of Nigeria. He voiced concerns that her appearance could adversely influence young Nigerians.
“I am disappointed in Chioma Davido’s dressing,” he wrote. “She shouldn’t have been half-naked at the Grammy. She didn’t represent Nigerian culture well, embracing a revealing Western style instead.”
Success further stated that, as a role model, Chioma’s choice of dress could negatively impact young women in Nigeria. He also expressed expectations that Davido would offer better guidance regarding her attire.
“Cultural representation matters, and it’s crucial,” he added. “I am disappointed in Davido for allowing her to dress this way.”
