Sheikh Jingir: Rev Dachomo said worse things – Bashir Ahmad to Rufai Oseni

Former presidential media aide Bashir Ahmad has stated that comments made by Plateau pastor Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo are more inflammatory than the remarks attributed to Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir.

Jingir, speaking in Kano State on Saturday, defended a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. He argued that the APC’s decision was justified due to the larger population of Muslims compared to Christians in Nigeria.

During his address, Jingir referred to Christians as infidels and asserted that Nigeria is a Muslim nation. His statements have prompted significant backlash and calls for his arrest.

In response to the ongoing controversy, television host Rufai Oseni raised a question on his official X account Tuesday night, pondering the societal reaction had a Christian cleric made similar statements.

“If a Christian cleric had said what Jingir said,” Oseni wrote.

In a rebuttal to Oseni’s post, Ahmad contended that Dachomo had made remarks that were even more offensive.

“It is not a competition, Rufai, but I can tell you that Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo has said things that were even worse. Both utterances are wrong,” Ahmad stated on X.
