So-Safe Corps arrests 50-year-old man for assaulting woman, daughter in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have apprehended a 50-year-old man, Kazeem Adeoye, for allegedly assaulting a 44-year-old woman and her daughter in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 4:45 p.m. in Shonde, Iyana-Ifote, Lisa, according to a statement from Soji Ganzallo, the Corps Commander, relayed by Director of Information Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

Oladeyinde Morufat reported that she was returning home from church with her children when a dispute erupted between her children and Adeoye’s sons, Abdullah and Ope, who were riding a motorcycle. Morufat alleged that Adeoye entered her compound without permission and verbally assaulted her family. She also claimed that his wife struck her on the head with a wooden stick, resulting in bleeding.

Morufat’s daughter, Mariam, reportedly sustained a laceration on her forehead during the altercation.

Following the report, Divisional Officer SC Innocent Matthew instructed officers to detain Adeoye. During his interrogation, Adeoye acknowledged entering the compound, asserting that he intended to warn Morufat’s family after his children complained about being obstructed. He also admitted that both Morufat and Mariam sustained injuries during the incident.

The victims were transported to the Government Health Centre in Lisa for medical treatment, while Adeoye was taken into custody. The case has since been referred to the Ifo Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and potential prosecution.

The Corps Commander urged community members to resolve disputes amicably and to report incidents of violence promptly, emphasizing the need to protect children and ensure that allegations of violence are thoroughly investigated by the appropriate authorities.
