Plumber Arrested for Theft of Cooking Pots and Electronics in Ota

Ogun State authorities have arrested a 21-year-old plumber, Adebayo Pelumi, for allegedly stealing two iron cooking pots and a power bank in the Iyesi area of Ota.

Pelumi was apprehended on Sunday near Abiola Gas Line after officers from the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, tracked him down following a theft complaint at Arobi Eye. The arrest was confirmed in a statement by State Commander Soji Ganzallo, which was released by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, on Monday.

According to the statement, law enforcement received a tip about Pelumi’s location early Sunday while conducting routine patrols. Officers noted they spotted the suspect on a motorcycle but lost sight of him. A subsequent search yielded the recovery of the stolen pots.

Pelumi was later discovered hiding in the vicinity but attempted to flee by jumping over several fences. He was ultimately caught by the officers.

In addition to the cooking pots and power bank, investigators reported recovering two Android phones, a phone charger, an OPay ATM card, a voter’s card, various keys, two MTN SIM cards, and several receipts from the suspect.

Pelumi and the seized items have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Onipanu Divisional Headquarters for further investigation.

The State Commander emphasized the Corps’ ongoing commitment to safeguarding the community, urging the public to remain vigilant and to provide timely and accurate information to security agencies.
