A severe windstorm, accompanied by heavy rainfall, struck several communities in the Kwara Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuring many others. The storm also caused significant damage to public infrastructure, including a primary school and a hospital.

The affected communities include Mallamawa, Mai Mushe, Kaura, Sabon Gari, and Rungin Tsamiya, leaving hundreds of families displaced and numerous homes damaged to varying degrees.

In response to the disaster, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) conducted an assessment to evaluate the extent of the destruction and to identify immediate humanitarian needs. The agency reported that several residents sustained injuries, and the fatalities were recorded amid the chaos.

NEMA officials stated their commitment to collaborating with relevant state and local authorities to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches the victims. Efforts to determine the full impact of the disaster are ongoing as the agency prepares to deliver relief materials to the affected communities.
