Spanish Super Cup to Take Place in Turkey

The Spanish Football Federation has announced that the 2027 Spanish Super Cup will be held at Istanbul’s Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Turkey. The tournament is scheduled for February 2 to 7 and will include prominent teams such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Real Sociedad.
This marks a departure from Saudi Arabia, which has hosted the event since 2020. The change is due to a scheduling conflict, as the tournament dates coincide with the Asian Cup, Asia’s premier men’s international football competition.
Barcelona, the reigning Super Cup champions after defeating Real Madrid in the 2026 final, confirmed in a statement that the tournament will return to Saudi Arabia in 2028. The Spanish Super Cup features the winners and runners-up of both La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
