JALINGO, Nigeria — Students at the Taraba State College of Nursing Sciences are experiencing heightened fear and anxiety following an alleged overnight attack at a female hostel located off-campus. The incident took place in the early hours of Monday and has sparked a peaceful protest involving hundreds of students demanding improved security measures for their residential facilities.
Eyewitnesses reported that a group of suspected assailants invaded the hostel while students were asleep, stealing mobile phones and other personal belongings. The situation escalated when one female student was reportedly sexually assaulted. Sources indicate that the victim sustained significant injuries during the attack, including the loss of a finger.
Following the incident, she was transported to GSCN Hospital in the Mile 6 area of Jalingo for medical care. The attack has incited widespread concern among students, particularly those residing in off-campus accommodations.
