Four Killed in Stabbing Incident Near Tacoma; Suspect Shot by Police
A 32-year-old man has been accused of stabbing four individuals to death outside a home on Key Peninsula, near Tacoma, Washington. Law enforcement officials report that the suspect was subsequently shot and killed by a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy.
The incident occurred Tuesday morning. At approximately 8:41 a.m. local time, deputies were dispatched to investigate a violation of a no-contact order against the suspect, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, deputies obtained a copy of the no-contact order but determined it had not yet been served to the suspect. Officers were in transit to deliver the order when the suspect reportedly began his attack outside the residence, located in a cul-de-sac.
Witnesses reported the stabbings began around 9:30 a.m. The first deputy arrived on the scene three minutes later, with shots fired shortly thereafter at 9:33 a.m., as captured in a video statement released by local authorities.
Three of the victims died at the scene, while a fourth was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to their injuries, as confirmed by Officer Shelbie Boyd, a spokesperson for the Pierce County Force Investigation Team.
The Pierce County Force Investigation Team is currently leading an inquiry into both the deputy-involved shooting and the stabbings.
According to reports, the residence involved in the incident appears to belong to a woman who had sought a one-year protection order against her son. Court documents indicate that she alleged her son made threatening statements and was struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues. She described incidents of mental and emotional abuse, damage to personal property, and harm to her pet.
The identities of the victims and the suspect have not yet been publicly disclosed. Court records indicate that the suspect received notification for a hearing regarding the restraining order but did not attend the proceeding.
