Suspected Bello Turji-led bandits raid Sokoto community, kill five, abduct several women
Lajinge Community in Sokoto State Attacked, Five Killed
SOKOTO—At least five people were killed and several women were abducted during a raid by suspected bandits in Lajinge, located in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The attack, reportedly led by the notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji, occurred on Tuesday night.
Bakatsine, a conflict reporter, shared details of the incident through a post on X on Wednesday. According to the report, the assailants invaded the community, resulting in five fatalities and injuries to eight others, who were later hospitalized for treatment.
While the exact number of abducted women remains unclear, the attackers also stole a significant amount of livestock and looted resident valuables before escaping the area.
The situation has raised concerns among residents regarding their safety and the possibility of further attacks. Bakatsine noted that Turji’s ongoing assaults on local communities contribute to pervasive fear, displacement, and loss of life.
“How long will these communities continue to endure this cycle of terror without a decisive end to the attacks?” Bakatsine questioned in his post.
As of this report, security agencies have not confirmed the incident or provided any official statement regarding the attack.
