Lagos State High Court Grants Bail to Singer Rollex Dee
The Lagos State High Court has granted bail to singer Rollex Dee after nearly two months in police custody. The court made the ruling on August 21, 2026, setting bail at N100 million.
MC Bokujaka, who has been spearheading the online campaign for Rollex Dee’s release, reported that the court ordered two sureties, each valued at N50 million. One of the sureties must be a family member of the singer, which Bokujaka noted complicates the bail process.
Rollex Dee’s release follows the intervention of human rights activist Omoyele Sowore. His involvement came in response to growing public concern about what many have described as illegal detention, as expressed widely on social media.
The singer was initially arrested in April 2026 on allegations of defaming and cyberbullying Ibadan-based musician Taye Currency during an interview on the Agbaletu program. After being released, Rollex Dee was re-arrested in early July after reportedly being invited to a reconciliation meeting by the Oyo State Police Command.
Reports indicate that Rollex Dee had previously supported Taye Currency in a public dispute with fellow musician Pasuma. Following a fallout, Rollex Dee allegedly revealed sensitive information about Taye, which triggered his arrest.
