TSUBEB Dismisses Allegations of Wrongful Retention of Officials
The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has refuted claims that five of its directors and other senior officials are unlawfully remaining in their positions beyond the mandatory retirement age.
These allegations, which have circulated on social media, have been labeled by the board as false and potentially harmful. TSUBEB management accused the originators of these claims of attempting to mislead the public and harm the institution’s reputation.
In an official statement, TSUBEB clarified that all personnel matters, including appointments, retirements, and promotions, are conducted according to the Taraba State Public Service Rules and other applicable regulations.
“The public service rules allow for extensions of service when deemed necessary in the public interest, subject to due process and approval from relevant government authorities,” the statement noted.
TSUBEB specifically addressed claims regarding its Executive Chairperson, Hon. Dr. Christiana Taninga Binga, asserting that she has not unlawfully retained any officer in service. The board emphasized that officers currently serving under approved extensions have received the necessary governmental authorizations and that all required procedures were observed.
The board urged the public to dismiss the allegations, describing them as misinformation that could undermine public trust in the institution. TSUBEB also cautioned individuals and groups disseminating what it termed false and defamatory information, stating that it reserves the right to pursue legal action against those responsible.
Additionally, TSUBEB appealed to media organizations and the public to verify information through official government channels prior to publication or dissemination concerning the board and its officials.
In closing, the board reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality basic education and supporting ongoing reforms intended to enhance the educational sector throughout Taraba State.
