Tedesco bombshell tipped amid Suaalii bidding war

Brisbane legend Gorden Tallis has taken the current Broncos players to task after their season ended in miserable circumstances.

The team sat fourth on the ladder after round 19, then somehow slid backwards to finish ninth. Their season ended with a 10-point loss to the Dragons on Saturday.

A week ago reports emerged several players had complained about coach Kevin Walters and the way he spoke to them after a big loss to Parramatta.

Then during the week, playmaker Tyson Gamble revealed on a podcast the players heed the advice of halfback Adam Reynolds over that of the coach’s.

Tallis – who is a close personal friend of Walters – was livid at the saga, and blasted any suggestion the coach should be sacked.

“If they move Kevvie on, the club will turn into the Wests Tigers. It’s as simple as that,” Tallis told Triple M.

“They’ve had Wayne (Benett), they’ve had (Anthony) Seibold… if our coach keeps getting rid of its coach – you don’t want to be a club that keeps moving their coaches on, because then the players have the pull.

“At some stage in our game the coach has to make some mistakes and the players have to live with it. He’s the boss.

“He’s your boss, whatever he says you go out there and do. It’s not the game plan, it’s your effort that loses games. What Brisbane have been beaten on in the last month, it’s not the game plan.”
