Fayemi Warns of Increasing Terrorist Proximity to Government Houses

Former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi expressed concern on Friday about the escalating threat of terrorism in Nigeria, noting that militants are increasingly encroaching on government facilities.

During an interview on the podcast “State Affairs,” hosted by Edmund Obilo, Fayemi highlighted the urgent need for enhanced security measures. He stated, “Terrorists are gradually getting closer to Government Houses. The jihadists are not far from us; they are already at our borders.”

Fayemi emphasized the importance of addressing this issue, citing potential risks to national interests. He pointed out that jihadists operate in neighboring countries, including Benin Republic, Togo, and Burkina Faso.

“To safeguard our own national interest, we must be interested in how to salvage that,” he added. “That’s why we need to re-strategize and ensure that our foreign relations are more robust.”
