Terrorists kill BYM President’s nephew two months after assassinating younger brother

Nephew of Berom Youth Leader Killed in Plateau State Attack
In a targeted assault in the Jol community of the Riyom Local Government Area in Plateau State, terrorists believed to be Fulani militias have killed the nephew of Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, the National President of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM).
Mwantiri confirmed the incident via a Facebook post on Saturday, stating that his nephew was killed just two months after the murder of his younger brother in the same community. Mwantiri had previously escaped an attack that left his brother dead, amid speculation that he was the intended target. The earlier attack also resulted in the death of the second-in-command of Operation Rainbow.
During the funeral for his nephew, security concerns arose when armed assailants reportedly attempted to launch further attacks on those gathered for the burial. Mwantiri noted that security forces were present and successfully prevented any additional violence.
“My nephew was killed by Fulani militias in a targeted attack on Jol village in Riyom LGA,” Mwantiri wrote. “This came barely two months after my younger brother was also assassinated in the same village. That particular attack was targeted at me, but fortunately, I managed to escape, while my brother and the second-in-command of Operation Rainbow were killed.”
The recent incident underscores the ongoing violence in the region, where community members have expressed increasing concerns over their safety.
