Three Among Top 10 for USA Softball Player of the Year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (May 3, 2023) – Three student-athletes from the Southeastern Conference are among the top 10 finalists for the 2023 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, which is entering its 21st season, recognizes outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female collegiate softball players across the nation.

Representing the SEC are Skylar Wallace of Florida and Kiki Milloy and Ashley Rogers from Tennessee.

 Skylar Wallace, Florida

Wallace, a redshirt junior infielder from Woodstock, Ga., leads the SEC with her .456 batting average, good for 10th place in the NCAA rankings. She leads the nation in slugging percentage (1.016) and is also second in triples (8) and third in on-base percentage (0.596). In 46 games this season for the Gators, she has recorded 57 hits, 61 runs scored, 50 RBI, 39 walks and 28 stolen bases.

 Kiki Milloy, Tennessee

Milloy, a senior outfielder from Woodinville, Wash., has a team-high .420 batting average and has registered 55 hits, 67 runs scored and 47 RBI through 46 games this season for the Lady Vols. She is currently fourth in the nation in home runs (19), sixth in slugging percentage (.931), and 10th in on-base percentage (.557).

 Ashley Rogers, Tennessee

Rogers, a graduate student right-handed pitcher from Athens, Tenn., owns a conference-high 0.81 earned run average. Through 20 appearances in the circle for the Lady Vols, she has an overall record of 14-1 over 103.1 innings pitched, has fanned 144 batters and held her opponents to a .112 batting average. In SEC games, she has a 1.00 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 56.0 innings pitched and has held her opponents to a .092 batting average. Previous recipients of the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award from SEC member institutions are Monica Abbott (Tennessee, 2007), Lauren Haeger (Florida, 2015) and Kelly Barnhill (Florida, 2017).

The Top 10 Finalists will be announced on Wednesday, May 17. The 2023 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be announced prior to the NCAA Women’s College World Series.
