Police Arrest Three in Stabbing Death of Musician Mark Orabiyi
London — British police have arrested three individuals in connection with the fatal stabbing of British-Nigerian musician Mark Orabiyi, a case that has prompted a murder investigation.
Orabiyi, 35, sustained multiple stab wounds during an incident at a residential property on Rayleigh Road on Friday. Emergency responders were dispatched to the location following distress calls but were unable to save him.
Upon arrival, Metropolitan Police officers and paramedics found Orabiyi critically injured in the garden of the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
While formal identification procedures are still underway, authorities confirmed that the deceased has been identified as Mark Orabiyi. Specialist officers are currently providing support to his family.
Family members paid tribute to Orabiyi, describing him as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose life had a positive influence on many. “Mark brought joy, kindness, and warmth to everyone around him. His remarkable talent and generous spirit touched countless lives, and his memory will remain with us forever,” they stated.
Police reported that three suspects — two men and a woman — were arrested shortly after the incident. A 27-year-old man has since been released on bail pending further investigation, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were released without further action after questioning.
Investigators also noted that a second victim, a 20-year-old man, suffered non-life-threatening stab wounds during the incident and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the investigation, characterized the incident as tragic and appealed for public assistance. “This is a deeply upsetting incident, and our thoughts remain with Mark’s family and loved ones. Our investigation is progressing, and we urge anyone who was in the area at the time or may have captured relevant CCTV or video footage to contact the police,” she said.
Authorities indicated that inquiries are ongoing as detectives seek to establish the circumstances that led to the fatal attack and identify those responsible.
