Tinubu appoints Modupe Adelabu as NECO Board chairman

President Appoints New NECO Chairman
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Modupe Adelabu as the new Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Examinations Council (NECO).
The announcement was made Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy. This appointment is part of a broader initiative aimed at reforming and enhancing leadership within key educational institutions.
Professor Adelabu, a specialist in educational administration, has had a distinguished career. She is a retired academic from Obafemi Awolowo University and has held various senior positions in both academia and public service.
Her past roles include serving as Deputy Governor of Ekiti State from 2013 to 2014 and chairing the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) from 2018 to 2021, where she played a significant role in policy development and oversight of technical education.
In her new position at NECO, Adelabu is expected to enhance the council’s leadership and contribute to ongoing efforts to improve the credibility and standards of national examinations in Nigeria.
