Transfer: Inter Miami agrees deal to sign Caicedo

Inter Miami Secures Caicedo from LDU Quito
Inter Miami has finalized an agreement to acquire defender Fricio Caicedo from LDU Quito.
The rising talent was previously poised to join Belgian club Royal Antwerp but has now signed with the Major League Soccer franchise. Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development, stating, “Deal in place for the 2008-born center-back who was on the verge of joining Royal Antwerp… and is now heading to Inter Miami. Hijack accomplished.”
Interest in Caicedo from Royal Antwerp began in December 2025, with reports indicating that he had agreed to terms with the club in July 2026.
Caicedo has represented Ecuador at various youth levels, including under-15, under-17, and under-20 teams. In May 2025, he received an invitation to train with the senior squad from manager Sebastián Beccacece.
He earned his first call-up to the national team in May 2026 for a training camp in the United States ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Caicedo made his international debut during Ecuador’s 2–1 friendly victory against Saudi Arabia on May 30, 2026, replacing Pervis Estupiñán late in the match.
