Troops arrest nine suspected terrorist collaborators in Yobe

Nine suspected collaborators linked to terrorist activities were apprehended by the 233 Tank Battalion in Yobe State, Nigeria, during a covert operation in Damaturu.

The arrests occurred around 11:20 PM on October 5, 2026, following credible intelligence regarding a suspected terrorist collaboration network operating within the Damaturu area, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama. The operation resulted in the capture of the alleged leader of the syndicate along with eight other individuals.

Items seized during the operation included one vehicle, ten mobile phones, seven ATM cards, seven caps, two cartons of dried fish, and cash totaling N376,400.

Authorities reported that the suspects, along with the recovered items, have been transferred to Headquarters Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai for further investigation and appropriate action.

Makama emphasized that these arrests are anticipated to aid ongoing efforts to delineate the network’s activities, contacts, and potential connections to terrorist groups operating in the North-East region of Nigeria.
