Nigerian Troops Arrest Suspected Terrorist Couriers in Kogi State
Nigerian military troops operating under Operation MESA have apprehended two individuals suspected of transporting logistics for terrorists along the Obajana–Kabba road in Lokoja Local Government Area, Kogi State.
The information was reported via X by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert focused on the Lake Chad region. According to Makama, the operation took place on Monday, prompted by credible intelligence regarding the movement of these logistics couriers.
Troops from the 12 Brigade established a temporary checkpoint at RA Oshokoshoko, where they intercepted a vehicle traveling from Makurdi to Obajana. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded significant evidence, including a sack containing 314 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and three AK-47 magazines, which were concealed behind the driver’s seat.
Additionally, military forces recovered two mobile phones, a driver’s license, a slip for the National Identification Number (NIN), and an identity card. The suspects, along with the recovered items, are currently in military custody pending further investigation.
