Nigerian Army Arrests Suspected Terrorist Informant in Kogi State

LOKOJA, Nigeria—Troops from the Nigerian Army, operating under Operation MESA, have apprehended a suspected terrorist informant connected to a prominent bandit leader during a security operation in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Security sources reported that the suspect was taken into custody at approximately 11:59 p.m. on June 1, during a coordinated operation involving the 12 Brigade and local vigilantes.

The operation took place while troops were pursuing suspected terrorists along a route known for their activity in the Adankolo Forest. The suspect was intercepted in the Odo Ape Forest area.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the individual served as an informant to a notorious terrorist leader identified as Kachallah Baccujo. During the operation, authorities recovered two mobile phones from the suspect.

The individual has been transferred to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation and necessary legal actions.

This arrest is part of broader efforts by security agencies to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks operating within Kogi State and its surrounding regions.
