Troops arrest two suspected armed robbers, kidnappers in Plateau

Two individuals suspected of armed robbery and kidnapping were apprehended by troops from Sector 6 of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) in collaboration with local residents in Plateau State.

The arrests occurred in Ganawuri, located in the Riyom Local Government Area, around 10:30 p.m. on October 1, 2026. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported via the social media platform X that the suspects were identified as Kabiru Mohammed and Abdul-Hamid Yusuf.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects may be connected to a criminal syndicate responsible for a series of armed robberies and kidnappings in Riyom and surrounding communities. Sources indicated that the suspects currently remain in custody and are undergoing interrogation to determine their involvement in these activities and to identify other potential members of the criminal network.

This operation is part of broader security efforts aimed at addressing crime and enhancing safety in Plateau State. Security agencies are expected to continue their investigations and take necessary actions based on their findings. The alleged involvement of the suspects in these crimes has yet to be verified through judicial proceedings.
