Troops foil terrorist infiltration, arrest logistics suppliers in Borno

Joint Task Force Foils Terrorist Infiltration in Northeast Nigeria
In a significant operation, the Joint Task Force (North East), under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), successfully thwarted a terrorist infiltration attempt and disrupted logistics networks in Northeast Nigeria. This initiative involved collaboration with local security stakeholders.
Lieutenant Colonel Haruna M. Sani, the Acting Media Information Officer for the region, announced on Friday that troops acted quickly upon detecting terrorists advancing toward the North East Theatre Training School in Buni Yadi on June 9, 2026, around 9:00 a.m. The operation resulted in the neutralization of two terrorists, as well as the recovery of a motorcycle.
In another operation, personnel from the 25 Brigade Garrison, alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), apprehended two individuals—Mallam Bako Ibrahim and Abu Aji—suspected of supplying logistics to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) operatives. They were taken into custody along the Sierra 4 axis in Damboa.
Similarly, troops from the 162 Amphibious Battalion, in concert with the CJTF, arrested another logistics suspect, Musa Idi, on the Mandaragirau–Sabon Gari Road. Investigations indicated that the suspects were engaged in providing logistical support to terrorist groups operating in the Damboa Local Government Area. The seized items included 19 wristwatches, a large mat, a transistor radio, two cartons of agro-allied chemicals, and various other materials intended for use by the terrorists. All suspects and the recovered items are now in custody for further investigation.
Additionally, members of Sector 2, working with the CJTF, arrested 23-year-old Adams Shittima in Damboa town at approximately 5:58 a.m. on June 9, 2026. Shittima was caught attempting to procure farm implements and mosquito nets for suspected terrorist activities. During initial questioning, he admitted to providing logistical support and information to terrorists in the area, revealing details about the network sustaining insurgent operations.
The military high command praised the troops for their professionalism and commitment to combating terrorism and criminality in the region.
