Troops kill two suspected kidnappers, rescue victim, recover N10m ransom in Kano

KANO, Nigeria — Troops from the 3 Brigade, Operation MESA, successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and neutralized two suspected kidnappers during an operation in Falgore Forest, located in the Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The operation took place following the abduction of Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu on October 11, 2026, while he was returning home from the Yandoka Market in Kaduna State just after midnight. According to Major Babatunde Zubairu from the Army Directorate of Information, the kidnappers contacted Aliyu’s family in Yan Taburmi Village, demanding ransom for his release.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops from the 3 Brigade collaborated with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local hunters to set up an ambush in the area. As a result, they were able to rescue Aliyu and neutralize two individuals believed to be part of the kidnapping ring. The remaining members of the syndicate fled into the deeper parts of Falgore Forest.
Following the operation, troops conducted a search of the area and recovered N10 million—an amount reportedly paid by the victim’s family as ransom. This money was subsequently returned to Aliyu and his family.
Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, commander of the 3 Brigade, praised the troops for their vigilance and professionalism. He emphasized the brigade’s dedication to targeting criminal activities and preventing further security incidents in the region.
Additionally, Jimoh encouraged the public to continue sharing timely and credible information with security agencies to aid ongoing efforts to ensure peace and security in Kano State.
