Troops rescue 27 victims after gun battle with terrorists in Katsina

Troops Rescue 27 Kidnapped Residents in Katsina State
KATSINA, Nigeria — Troops from the Joint Task Force, operating under “Fansan Yamma,” successfully rescued 27 individuals kidnapped in the Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for the task force, announced the rescue in a statement released Tuesday. He detailed that Sector 1 troops received a distress call on October 16 regarding terrorist activities in the Gamji community, where the victims—15 males and 12 females—had been abducted.
Following the distress call, the troops pursued the assailants along the Gangare–Kamba axis. They engaged the attackers in a gunfight, which resulted in the assailants fleeing and abandoning the hostages.
All 27 individuals were reported to be unharmed and were returned to community leaders for reunification with their families after undergoing a profiling process.
In a separate incident the same day, soldiers on patrol near Kurba village in Kankara Local Government Area encountered suspected militants traveling on three motorcycles. According to Danja, the suspects fled upon spotting the troops, leaving one motorcycle behind, which was subsequently recovered by the soldiers.
These operations are part of ongoing initiatives aimed at curbing the movement of armed groups and enhancing the security of communities in North-West Nigeria.
