Joint Task Force Foils Terrorist Attacks in Kaduna, Sokoto States
Kaduna, Nigeria — Troops from the Joint Task Force North West, operating under the code name FANSAN YAMMA, successfully thwarted terrorist attacks and rescued victims of kidnapping recently in Kaduna and Sokoto states.
Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, reported that on August 20, 2026, troops from Sector 1 responded to an emergency call regarding the abduction of a 43-year-old man near Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Upon arrival at the scene, the troops launched a pursuit into the nearby bush areas, forcing the abductors to abandon their captive and flee. The rescued individual was later reunited with his family, according to the statement.
In a separate operation on August 21, 2026, soldiers from Sector 2 collaborated with local security forces to address an attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The operation resulted in the neutralization of one terrorist, while troops recovered two mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, and several recharge cards from the area, as detailed in the statement.
