Turkey: Iheanacho breaks his own goal record as he scores in 12 consecutive games

Bursaspor secured a significant victory on Sunday, defeating Keçiörengücü 4-2 at Aktepe Stadium, with Kelechi Iheanacho playing a pivotal role in the match. Iheanacho scored in the 50th minute, allowing Bursaspor to regain the lead after a first half marked by back-and-forth scoring.

Keçiörengücü initially took the lead early in the match, with an own goal by Emirhan Başyiğit in the seventh minute. Bursaspor equalized shortly thereafter, as Amine Boutrah found the net in the 16th minute. Lewis Baker then put the visitors ahead with a goal in the 35th minute, but Bursaspor quickly responded, with Oğuzcan Çalışkan equalizing just before halftime.

Following the break, Iheanacho’s goal in the 50th minute shifted the momentum back to Bursaspor, who extended their lead to 4-2 with another goal from Lincoln shortly thereafter. Iheanacho’s performance marked his 12th consecutive league match with a goal, setting a new record for the longest scoring streak in Turkish football.

The Nigerian forward had previously achieved an impressive run of goals in 11 consecutive league fixtures for Bursaspor before extending his record. Having now scored 16 goals in 12 appearances for the club, Iheanacho aims to maintain this high level of performance as Bursaspor continues its campaign in the Turkish second division.
