Nigerian Actor Reflects on Personal Trauma in Podcast Interview
Abdul Salam Taofeek, a veteran Nigerian actor known professionally as Tioruju Mondusi, recently opened up about a deeply painful chapter in his life during an interview on the African A-List podcast.
When asked about an unresolved grievance, Taofeek revealed that his late wife had inflicted the most significant emotional pain on him. “The incident brought tears from my eyes. May God forgive her,” he stated solemnly.
Taofeek recounted events from approximately five years ago when he returned home from a location shoot to find his wife absent. At that time, she was nine months pregnant with their fifth child. Efforts to reach her by phone were unsuccessful until two days later, when he finally made contact. However, she refused to disclose her whereabouts.
Concerned, Taofeek visited his wife’s mother to inquire about her. It was there that he discovered she had been involved in an introduction ceremony with another man, who already had a wife and four children. “After seeing the photo frame, I called to express my anger,” he explained. His wife subsequently returned home, where the couple exchanged heated words.
A few days later, she gave birth and expressed a desire to hold the naming ceremony at his residence, despite previously denying paternity of the child. This prompted Taofeek to take legal action, resulting in his wife filing for divorce. During the court proceedings, she confessed that their last two children were not his. She had been involved with another man for several years. Tragically, she passed away last year, allegedly due to depression after being abandoned by the man she left Taofeek for.
The developments in this personal narrative highlight the complexities of relationships and the enduring nature of emotional pain.
