Unknown assailants kill 58-year-old mother of 8 in Gombe
A 58-year-old mother of 8 was brutally murdered by unknown assailants suspected to be phone thieves in the Jekadafar ward of Gombe metropolis. 

 

 

The deceased was killed on Friday night, October 20, 2023. 

 

 

Spokesman of the State Police Command, ASP Mahid Mu’azu, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday said that the assailants stormed the deceased’s residence at about 9:45 p.m., and killed her before fleeing with her cell phone. 

 

 

“When we received the information, our men moved to the scene where Mrs Abdullahi was found in a pool of blood and was immediately rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Gombe, where she was confirmed dead,” the PPRO stated.

 

“The Command has expressed shock and dismay at the heinous crime and pledged to do everything within its power to bring the perpetrators to justice,” he said.

 

 

Mu’azu said the command has launched a full-scale investigation to ascertain the circumstances of the incident and identify the murderers. 

 

He stated that the restriction on movement is still in place and urged commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators to provide credible information to the police. 

 

 

Meanwhile, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has strongly condemned the gruesome murder of the woman, describing the incident as a mindless act.

 

 

In a statement, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, (Press Affairs) Government House, the Governor directed the Police and other relevant security agencies in the state to mobilise investigative assets and ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice.

 

 

He vowed that Gombe State, under his watch holds a steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all its citizens. 

 

“We have a zero-tolerance policy towards criminal activities, and this incident only strengthens our resolve to uphold the peace and security that our state is known for,” he said. 

 

“I want to make it abundantly clear that there will be no escape from justice for those responsible for this vile and vicious act. Our security agencies are directed to leave no stone unturned to track down the culprits to account for their heinous action.” 

 

 

He conveyed the deepest condolences of the government and people of Gombe State to the bereaved family.

 

“The details of this incident, as preliminarily reported by the police, are nothing short of horrifying and a dark stain. Our hearts bleed for the bereaved family, who are grappling with an unimaginable loss, and for the Jekadafari community as well as the entire citizens, who are now scarred by the traumatic aftermath of this tragic event.”
