US interested in Nigeria’s resources – Sheikh Gumi

Sheikh Gumi Claims U.S. Interests in Nigeria’s Resources

Controversial Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has alleged that the United States is primarily focused on Nigeria’s natural resources.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Gumi characterized Western countries as “predators,” asserting that “the West is a predator. U.S. attention is now on Nigerian resources.”

He emphasized the importance of national sovereignty, stating, “Nobody cries for terrorists. But every patriotic citizen should cry for our sovereignty.”

Gumi also criticized foreign military involvement in Nigeria, remarking, “Aerial bombing of stationary targets is no rocket science that demands foreign forces firing on our land.”

He referenced the “Thucydides Trap,” a political theory suggesting that a rising power often precipitates conflict with an established one. Gumi remarked, “The first sign of the USA’s downfall is the absence of intellectuals, but merchants of dollars and warmongers.”

His statements have generated considerable discussion regarding the role of foreign powers in Nigeria.
