Rick Ross Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges in Miami

Miami, FL — American rapper Rick Ross has been arrested on charges of domestic violence following allegations of physical abuse made by his ex-girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick. Ross, 50, was taken into custody on Thursday after Kendrick accused him of choking her during a dispute in August.

According to online jail records, Ross faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery. Both charges are connected to incidents classified as domestic violence.

The allegations resurfaced publicly days before his arrest when Kendrick posted on Instagram detailing her claims against the rapper. Local news outlet WPLG reported that the alleged incident occurred on August 28 and was subsequently reported to law enforcement.

During a bond hearing on Thursday morning, Ross appeared via Zoom before Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer. The judge reviewed the arrest report and determined there was probable cause to proceed with the case.

Ross’ attorney, Bradley Horenstein, vehemently denied the allegations, stating, “All I can say is that the allegations are false. He’s innocent. Everything is going to come out.” Horenstein emphasized the importance of allowing the legal process to unfold without premature judgment.

Horenstein also highlighted Ross’s celebrity status in his plea for a quick release. Judge Glazer set Ross’s bail at $4,000 for the strangulation charge and $1,000 for the misdemeanor battery charge, totaling $5,000.

In addition to bail, the judge issued a stay-away order preventing Ross from contacting Kendrick directly or indirectly, including through social media or third parties. He is also barred from going near her home, workplace, or school.

As part of the conditions of his release, Ross must surrender any firearms and is prohibited from possessing firearms while the case is pending. The court further instructed him not to engage in any criminal activity or use illegal drugs.

An arraignment is scheduled for October 22.
