VDM announces social media break, gives reason

Social Media Commentator Martins Vincent Otse Announces Temporary Withdrawal
Martins Vincent Otse, known on social media as VeryDarkMan, has declared a temporary exit from all social media platforms. This decision comes in response to allegations suggesting that his content has been diverting Nigerian youths from holding their government accountable.
In a video shared on his Instagram account, Otse stated that he aims to allow young Nigerians to concentrate fully on protests and civic engagement during his hiatus. “Because of the allegations that it is my posts that have been distracting the Nigerian youths from holding the government accountable, I have decided to refrain from posting on social media during this period,” he said.
Otse also encouraged other influencers, celebrities, and activists to seize the opportunity to engage with the public in his absence. “I would expect all influencers, celebrities, and activists to take over; let’s watch and see,” he added.
In a further elaboration delivered in Pidgin, he reiterated his commitment to stepping back from social media entirely. “I’ve made my decision that from today I am not going to be making any posts on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube—everywhere. I am going to leave you people; I am going to give you people time. That’s why I am not going to be posting,” he explained.
Otse emphasized his support for ongoing protests and initiatives aimed at government accountability, stating, “VeryDarkMan is going to be taking a back stage.”
