VDM: Man who allegedly originated fake Tinubu’s voice in viral video arrested – Presidency
The presidency confirmed Thursday that Ifechukwu Dennis has been arrested for allegedly creating an AI-generated audio clip of President Bola Tinubu.
The audio was linked to a fake video featuring social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, commonly known as Verydarkman VDM, and sparked significant backlash online.
Bayo Onanuga, a media aide to President Tinubu, announced the arrest in a Facebook post Thursday night, stating that Dennis was apprehended in Benin City. Onanuga indicated that the audio had been presented to unsuspecting individuals as an authentic recording of President Tinubu.
“The IGP crack team has arrested Ifechukwu Dennis, who originated the fake voice that he passed on to his gullible targets as President Tinubu’s voice. Dennis was arrested in Benin. The police will issue an official statement,” Onanuga wrote.
