Very ridiculous – APC chieftain mocks Desmond Elliot, counters withdrawal claim

Dispute Arises Over APC Primary Election Withdrawal
LAGOS — Ayekooto Akindele, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has disputed claims made by Desmond Elliot, an actor-turned-politician and lawmaker representing Surulere I in the Lagos State House of Assembly. Elliot recently announced his withdrawal from the party’s primary election, citing intimidation.
According to an earlier report by DAILY POST, Elliot stated that he was pressured into stepping back from the ongoing contest. However, Akindele challenged this assertion in a post on social media platform X, asserting that Elliot participated in the election but faced a significant defeat.
Akindele characterized Elliot’s comments as “ridiculous,” suggesting that the lawmaker hastily organized a press conference after realizing he was unlikely to secure victory.
“After the counting and declaration of votes, and after suffering an excruciating defeat right in his very presence, Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot quickly organized a press conference, claiming that he had withdrawn from the race and alleging that his ‘supporters’ were not allowed to vote,” Akindele stated.
This exchange reflects the contentious nature of the primary elections as party members vie for positions in a highly competitive political landscape.
