Wallabies ring changes for daunting France Test

Wallabies fullback Jock Campbell will make his first Test start in the Paris pressure cooker against France on Sunday (7am kick-off AEDT).

The late-blooming Reds star made his Wallabies debut off the bench in last weekend’s tense 16-15 win over Scotland and replaces Tom Banks in the No.15 jersey.

“It was an unreal experience,” Campbell said.

“It was a pressure situation but I thought the boys handled it really well. To sneak a win was awesome. I was pretty stoked.”

Campbell can expect a busy shift at the back with world No.2 France likely to favour a kick-heavy approach.

Wallabies coach Dave Rennie had forecast changes for game two of the five match tour – and has been true to his word.

The other tweaks to the starting backline see Lalakai Foketi replace Hunter Paisami at inside centre and Nic White promoted ahead of Tate McDermott at halfback.

Up front, tighthead prop Taniela Tupou replaces Allan Alaalatoa (concussion) while giant lock Will Skelton is a new face on the bench.

”Obviously, you’re trying to start but I know now the finishers that come off the bench are just as important as the starters,” Skelton said before the team was announced.

“I’ll always try and put my hand up to start but I’ll do the best for the team.

“I start at club level. Being involved in the 23 and add value is my goal here, but I’m not here to just be a passenger. I want to add where I can and I’m really happy to be here.”
