What my elder brother told me about how to find a good woman for marriage — Mayorkun
Nigerian music artist Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, known professionally as Mayorkun, recently shared insights on his search for a suitable partner during an episode of the Uncut podcast.
Mayorkun disclosed that he sought advice from his older brother regarding his difficulties in finding the right woman to marry. His brother suggested that his approach to dating, specifically avoiding interactions with women during the daytime, might be contributing to his struggle.
“I told my big bro I have been struggling to find the right woman to marry, and he asked me a simple question: ‘When was the last time you spoke to a girl in broad daylight?’” Mayorkun recalled. He noted that he resonated with this advice, associating a responsible partner with more traditional hours, stating, “You can’t be a responsible girl and still be outside by 1 a.m.”
The artist, known for his hit song “Mayor of Lagos,” also shared a personal anecdote from a date when a woman, who initially claimed not to recognize him or his music, started singing one of his older tracks after it played on the radio. He expressed concerns that the prevalence of fake lifestyles and pretense complicates the quest for a genuine life partner.
