What My Wife Told Me After Losing Grammys Again

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, has reflected on the supportive words of his wife, Chioma Rowland Adeleke, following his second Grammy Awards loss. Davido’s song “With You,” featuring Omah Lay, was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category but did not win.
The award went to South Africa’s Tyla for her track “Push 2 Start.” Other nominees included Burna Boy for “Love,” as well as a collaboration from Ayra Starr and Wizkid titled “Gimme Dat.” Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s “Hope & Love” was also in the mix.
Despite a strong showing from Nigerian artists, none secured a victory this year. In an Instagram post, Davido recounted a conversation with Chioma after learning of their loss. He expressed his desire to forgo the after-party, but Chioma encouraged him with a memorable response.
Davido wrote, “I said baby listen, we lost again, let’s not go! She said, ‘Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We’re outside.’”
