Activist Demands Action on Abduction of Students and Teachers in Oyo State
OYO STATE, Nigeria — Activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), called on Governor Seyi Makinde on Tuesday to provide updates regarding the rescue of abducted pupils and teachers.
Leading a significant protest outside the Government House, VDM and a crowd of predominantly young supporters from the Ratel Movement demanded urgent measures to address the situation.
In a widely circulated video, VDM expressed frustration over the ongoing security crisis, stating, “We are here for one reason: we want kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism to stop in Nigeria.”
He lamented that the recent abduction had occurred in Oyo State, emphasizing the need for collective action. “It’s unfortunate that the issue that brought us here happened in Oyo State but does not start here. I’m happy that this one is bringing us together,” he said.
VDM pressed the governor for concrete answers, asking when the children would return and what actions were being taken to facilitate their rescue. He further offered the support of his group, stating, “If you don’t have men, we are ready to volunteer ourselves to go into the bushes with the police, army, and any security agencies that are ready to go into the bush. As it is now, we don’t even know the condition of the children; we don’t know if the children are still alive.”
In response, Governor Makinde assured the public that efforts were underway to secure the release of the victims.
