Why I lost most of my fans – Lizzo

Lizzo Attributes Decline in Fanbase to Streaming Shift
American singer and rapper Melissa Viviane Jefferson, known as Lizzo, has attributed her declining fanbase to the transition from radio to streaming platforms.
In a recent post on social media, Lizzo responded to a fan’s observation regarding the decrease in her audience over the past two years. She noted that she had built her career as a “radio darling,” and many of her listeners first discovered her music through radio airplay. Lizzo emphasized that the industry’s shift away from radio has resulted in a significant loss of fans.
Additionally, Lizzo expressed that her career has faced challenges from what she described as “saboteurs.”
The Grammy-winning artist is working diligently to navigate these changes, stating, “The industry changed so much in the last three years. Streaming replaced radio, and I was a radio darling. That’s how my fans discovered my music. Not to mention the very obvious and public attack on my career changed things,” according to her post.
