Why I Stopped Going To Clubs

Afrobeats Star Davido Discusses Shift from Party Lifestyle to Quiet Living
Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, has shared insights into his decision to distance himself from the party lifestyle that characterized his early career. Speaking during an interview on The LongForm Podcast on YouTube, which aired on February 3, 2026, Davido described his current focus on rest, family, and a more tranquil way of life.
The artist reflected on how achieving fame at a young age brought with it financial freedom and significant influence, which often translated into a routine of nightlife and club appearances. He noted that frequent clubbing had become a normal aspect of life for him and his peers at the time.
However, Davido indicated that those habits no longer resonate with him. During a recent nearly two-month stay in Nigeria, he reported that he engaged in very few outings. Instead, he found fulfillment in spending time at home, a shift that he says has led to genuine happiness.
Now, his days are largely centered around studio work, quiet leisure, and small gatherings with close friends. Recording music and hosting casual barbecues have taken precedence over loud parties.
Davido also emphasized the importance of family in his daily routines, often prioritizing time at home with his wife. He characterized his new lifestyle as calm and uneventful, yet satisfying.
Despite this personal transformation, he maintains his energy during professional commitments. Davido affirmed that he remains fully engaged in performances, studio sessions, and shows, reiterating that entertainment continues to be his career.
Additionally, he described the importance of rest in his life, noting that he takes advantage of every opportunity to sleep and recuperate whenever his schedule permits.
