Why I Ventured Into Music Industry – Skit maker, Taaooma

Nigerian skitmaker, Maryam Akpaogaki, popularly known as Taaooma, has revealed why she ventured into the music industry.

Naija News reports that the comedienne while featuring as a guest on the latest episode of ‘The Leaderboard podcast hosted by Fisayo Fosudo, averred that entertainment is freedom and an individual can do anything.

According to Taamo, she started music because she felt it would be better to use her songs in her comedy skits instead of using songs by other musicians.

She added that doing music is not so hard because she has a studio where she can record her songs.

She said, “For me, entertainment is freedom. You can do anything.

“I also like the fact that it’s my music. It’s my song. It’s a song that I can be proud that I made. I just feel like, I’m using other people’s songs [in my skits], and this thing is not so hard. I have a studio, we can record songs.

“I love music. Some people used to say I have [a melodic] voice. But, I feel like, instead of me trying to sing, we can do collaborations and make something happen”

In other news, veteran Nigerian singer and photographer, Toyin Sokefun-Bello, popularly known as TY Bello, has said she attended a tertiary institution to please her mother.

Bello stated this during an interview on the latest episode of the I Said What I Said podcast, co-hosted by FK and Jola.

The ‘Land is Green’ crooner disclosed that she began photography and music almost at the same time.

She explained that her plan was to become a “big hairstylist” after graduation, adding that she has always been creative as far back as she can remember.
